On Thursday May 1st, we welcome Mungo’s Hi Fi to Aotearoa for a one-off heavyweight session beneath the Sydenham Underpass — an iconic space reimagined by sound, people, and purpose.
Mungo’s Hi Fi needs little introduction. Hailing from Glasgow and flying the flag for global sound system culture, their productions and performances blend roots reggae, dub, dancehall, and steppers with a distinctly modern, bass-heavy approach. Known for their crisp selection, infectious energy, and deep cultural respect, Mungo’s have rocked dances worldwide — and now they’re set to shake down Christchurch.
Expect full-immersion, roots to future dub, rinsed through a hand-built sound system with clarity, warmth, and raw power. As always, we’re putting the sound first, staying true to the traditions that inspired the movement while building a space that’s welcoming, diverse, and community-focused.

This is a grassroots, independent, indoor sound system session, staying true to the DIY ethos of the culture — crafted for the heads, the dancers, and the sound lovers. Whether you've attended every Grass Fed event or you're stepping in for the first time, you're part of the family. Food and drink will be available as Papa Smashies will be open late to keep everyone Fed. Pool table and comfortable seating for anyone needing a break.
